Four o'clock in the morning. Cold. Very cold. Trees start to change clothes. It's autumn. In Turkey.
Urgup Balloon Operators hop from one hotel to another to collect freezing but excited ballooners. Drive them to the take-off point. Serve them light breakfast. Show them how to inflate a monstrous balloon. Safety demonstrations follow.
Over the fields and valleys of Cappadocia- a flock of sheep is already awake, over the fairy chimneys, over these heritage sites, the balloon is moving slowly following the direction of the wind.
At five thirty the sun walks in. Never been so excited about sunrise. The fairy chimneys turn red. They are on fire. Twenty ballooners in a basket, busy filling every available space in their memory cards with shots of the scenery. The view---breathtaking!
At six o'clock the balloon descends, lands---deflated. Pilot opens a bottle of champagne, offers a toast to those whom for once in their lives see Heaven on Earth.
